Humanities ED Representative Council
At the Awards dinner this year, the nominees for the first ever Humanities EDU Representative Council (RC) were revealed. Nominees were given an opportunity to introduce themselves to their peers on stage and all ED students were encouraged to vote for their preferred candidates via VULA. The successfully elected Humanities EDU RC members are: Loyola (Lola) Nyathi (Chairperson), Monn-lee Geduld (Secretary General; Mentorship & Orientation), Zuko Fekisi (Transformation), Luvuyo Mdlalo (Academics), Njabulo Mpanza (Welfare), and Sakhile Tembe (Social Events & Public Relations). Their manifesto includes: (a) identifying problems concerning Humanities ED students and finding solutions to these; (b) ending the marginalisation of Humanities ED students at UCT; and (c) supporting ED students to achieve their educational and vocational goals. We, the EDU staff, are looking forward to working with them in 2016.
