Annual Welcome Events

An annual welcome event has been run by the HUM EDU for several years. It usually involves speeches by the HUM EDU Director, as well as a representative from the Dean’s Office and additional invited guests. Prior to 2016, the HUM EDU Administrative Assistant with the assistance of the JRF organised and managed the event. This included booking the venue, catering, sound, décor, transport, organising speeches and an MC, organising entertainment, organising a photographer, finance administration, and invitations to staff and students. The event is funded by the HUM EDU and the Director signs off on all expenses.

In 2016 the organisation of the event was transferred to the newly established EDRC. The council organised the programme, sound equipment and the event activities, and the HUM EDU Administrative Assistant assisted with finance administration, booking of venue and food, and invitations. The event was well attended and enabled students to meet with their new council representatives.
